Role Summary

Working with the Production Engineering team, the role of the CAD/CAM Programmer is to create programs for a range of engineering components, using Mazatrol and Fanuc controlled machines. The role focuses on generating operator friendly, repeatable processes and maintaining high quality manufacturing process documentation.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • CAD/CAM Programming
  • Direct programming and program modifications using various controllers including, Fanuc and Mazatrol
  • Produce accurate work instructions to support production setters and daily machine shop performance
  • Prove out your process and produce 1st off parts, for submission to inspection prior to a production run
  • Create and maintain routings and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • To collaborate with Research & Development on new products/designs to ensure they can be manufactured in production in the most suitable way
  • Investigate and implement new tooling, work holding and machining strategies to generate productivity savings

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experienced CNC programmer with experience in CNC Machining
  • Fully trained using CAD/CAM software
  • An ability to interpret Engineering drawings
  • Ability to understand various manufacturing methods and techniques
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication, presentation, and people skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work to deadlines with an obvious “can do” approach to learning
  • A competent problem solver, you will have experience of identifying problems and providing solutions to ensure that continuous improvements are made throughout the workshop

ADVANTAGEOUS SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • CAD/CAM Programming using SolidCam (InventorCam) (experience with other CAD/CAM packages will be considered)
  • Experience using a variety of CNC Machine tools with 3, 4 and 5 Axis Milling Centres
  • A good understanding of Fanuc and Mazatrol machine controllers
  • Experience of using and programming a Citizen and STAR sliding Head lathes would be an advantage

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Standard working hours with occasional overtime based on business demands
  • Flexibility to support production during urgent periods
  • Occasional travel to suppliers/machine tool OEMs for training, trials, or commissioning
