Role Summary

Reporting to a Section Leader, the CMM Programmer will be responsible for creating, verifying, and configuring control programs for the CMM. They will also use the CMM to ensure that parts and products conform to the latest issue drawing as well as inspecting products and parts using manual inspection equipment.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create, maintain, and verify CMM programs used for the measurements of manufactured and supplied parts
  • Analyse drawings, 3D models, and specifications while accurately interpreting requirements
  • Effectively liaise with other departments regarding CMM requirements
  • Management of all programs created ensuring they are readily available in the most current revision
  • Review and define data collection requirements as they are communicated via customer drawings, models, work orders, purchase orders, and customer specifications
  • Perform documentation review and verification of certifications, specifications and conformance to design and specification requirements
  • Assist with the measurement and interpretation of First Article FAIRS and prove out parts, liaising with Quality and Process Engineers.
  • Perform all duties in line with Company Health and Safety requirements

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Good general education
  • Experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Statistical process control experience
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specification and skilful use of metrology tools and gauges
  • An understanding of fundamentals of GD&T specifically Feature Reference Frame, datum systems, MMC LMC and True Position Profile
  • Able to demonstrate Form Tolerance, Profile Tolerance, Orientation Tolerance, Location Tolerance and Run-out Tolerance
  • Understanding of degrees of freedom with respect to aligning a part
  • Knowledge of surface finish and the use of surface finish equipment
  • Must be able to measure with micrometres, digital callipers, bore micrometres and slip gauges
  • Minimum of 3 years of precision mechanical inspection experience required
  • Minimum of 3 years of CMM experience required
  • CMM experience with MODUS software

ADVANTAGEOUS SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Time served Apprenticeship would be desirable
