Production Operator x 2 Fixed Term Contracts [Ref. AS0000-047]

OVERVIEW OF ROLE

Reporting to the EW Operations Manager through a Section Leader, the EW Production Operator will be required to undertake a series of tasks as detailed below to achieve production requirements in the EW Division.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To undertake manufacturing tasks assigned by the Section Leader or EW Operations Manager
  • Achievement of efficiency targets
  • To record relevant information to ensure lot traceability
  • Correct booking of daily timesheets
  • Manage work flow to ensure minimum downtime is achieved on all jobs

INTRINSIC SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Production related experience gained within a Textile related industry
  • Good level of manual dexterity with ability to use industrial machinery to their full extent
  • A sound manufacturing background and the ability to read drawings and understand written manufacturing instructions
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to work to high quality standards unsupervised
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Strict observation of safety rules and regulations in operating machinery and working within the various environments with the EW Division

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • GSCE (or equivalent) in Maths and English
  • NVQ Level 2 in Performing Manufacturing Operations (PMO) or equivalent
  • Previous manufacturing experience (minimum 2 years) within a Textile Industry
  • Basic understanding of computers

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS

Sewing

  • Previous experience in the use of at least one of the following sewing machines; single needle, twin needle, zig-zag, 4 needle, automatic, Adler, overlocker
  • Setting up of machines, threading and cleaning, understanding of stitch requirements for different threads, tensions and ability to change a needle
  • Previous experience gained as an industrial machinist (minimum 2 years), with an understanding of the importance of achieving quality standards and efficiency targets
  • Assembly of components parts

Cutting

  • To undertake cutting of coated and non-coated fabrics using a CNC cutting machine or by hand using jigs / templates
  • Experienced and confident working with templates, jigs and tapes
  • Able to use a variety of cutting tools and measuring devices
  • Compliance with the Health and Safety requirements specific to cutting related tasks

 

RF Welding

  • To undertake RF and heat welding of coated nylon fabric and the sewing of coated and non-coated fabrics
  • Ability to set up and use a RF Welding machine to join pieces of fabric together
  • Ability to understand the RF Welding process and identify whether a good or bad weld has been produced.
  • Ability to adjust the RF Welding Machine to produce a good weld
  • Good manual dexterity to set up complex shapes for RF welding

 

Packing

  • To undertake work on the shop floor including the assembly of various fabric and mechanical items in accordance with Drawings/Assembly Instructions
  • To be able to pack items in accordance with Drawings/Assembly Instructions
  • Undertake miscellaneous tasks as directed by the Section Leader/EW Operations

 

Manager

  • Ability to use a stud press for punching washers and eyelets
  • Ability to use a pneumatic press for the swaging of various items

PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • The strict use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times, to include as a minimum, appropriate steel toe capped footwear, suitable eye and ear protection and suitable head protection
  • Capable of Lifting up to 15 kgs as an individual and 30 kgs with additional support
  • Ability to spend all day standing

OVERVIEW OF ROLE

Residing within the Engineering Function, the Project Manager will report directly to the Engineering Delivery Manager.

The Project Manager is customer facing and they must be an effective communicator and able to interact successfully and professionally with stakeholders at all levels across the business and externally.

The Project Manager shall be responsible for planning, organising, motivating, and controlling resources to ensure contractual delivery requirements are met to quality, cost, scope and time constraints and to our customers satisfaction. The Delivery Manager will primarily be responsible for delivery of design, development and production biased contracts.

However, they may be required to manage different types of contracts and in the context of this organisation a contract may be include but not be limited to: supply of existing product, new product design and development, provision of consultancy services and/or through life support or decommissioning services.

The Project Manager must be able to operate autonomously and prioritise their workload appropriately.

Operating at a functional level the Project Manager will develop a way of working that can apply across all Business Units. Particularly planning, tracking and reporting.

Whilst the majority of the Project Managers role will be focused on the delivery of contractual commitments, the role will also require the Project Manager to take an active role in bid preparation to ensure what is being bid can be delivered.

As a manager they will understand and execute their role in implementing the value drives of Value Pricing, Profitable New Business and Productivity. Underpinned by long term relationships with customers and on time delivery of our highly engineered proprietary quality products.

OVERVIEW OF ROLE

Residing within the Operations Function, the Engineering Delivery Manager (EDM) reports directly to the Operations Director.

The Engineering Delivery Manager holds a Functional and Business Unit responsibility.
Functionally responsible for Contract Acceptance and Delivery of all non-standard customer orders (For Example: Development Projects, Complex Production Orders, Post design Service Contracts) together with the associated Process and Procedures for enabling effective execution.

At a Business Unit level they operate as part of the Business Management Team for ADAS, again specifically charged with accepting and delivering contracts.

The Engineering Delivery Manager is customer facing and must be an effective communicator and able to interact successfully and professionally with stakeholders at all levels across the business and externally. Having direct line management responsibility for assigned members of the project delivery team, building and leading that team to meet the needs of the Business.

The Engineering Delivery Manager shall be responsible for planning, organising, motivating, and controlling resources to achieve specific goals on tasks and projects. They will be required to manage different types of projects and in the context of this organisation a project may involve new product design and development, consultancy services, testing, product delivery, training, and/or support or decommissioning services.

They must be able to operate autonomously and priorities their workload appropriately.
Whilst the majority of the role will be focused on the delivery of contracts, the role will also require the EDM to lead and support the development of new business. This will include the preparation and approval of Bids.

As a manager they will drive focus on improved productivity and delivery of profitable new business through continuous improvement and development of new products, services and greater efficiency in ways of working.

    o Monthly reports to the Senior Leadership Team and the parent company.
    o Quarterly presentation data for the business.
    o Annual Operating Plan data for analysis and presentation.
  • Co-ordinate, analyse and report on productivity projects to ensure the company achieves its targets for steady reduction of annual operating costs.
  • Develop a problem solving process which describes requirements in a work-flow chart and diagram, studies system capabilities and analyses alternative solutions.

 

INTRINSIC SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Expert level of skill in information analysis, including the ability to extract complex data from relational databases, and interpret highly complex information to draw conclusions from it.
  • Technical knowledge of SQL and Microsoft Excel at an Advanced level.
  • Ability to negotiate and to justify their position when required.
  • Ability to understand various manufacturing methods and techniques.
  • Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
