Production Operator [Ref. AS0000-033]
Reporting to the Section Leader, the role of the Production Operator is to undertake a variety of production and assembly related tasks to achieve production requirements in the Metals Division.

OVERVIEW OF ROLE

Reporting to the Section Leader, the role of the Production Operator is to undertake a variety of production and assembly related tasks to achieve production requirements in the Metals Division.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The finishing of products with the use of hand tools (such as pneumatic tools), files, polishing equipment and other tooling associated with hand finishing, such as drills, needle files, rasps etc.
  • The safe running of Brake Presses from 60 ton up to 360 ton, in addition to other smaller types of presses and general workshop machinery including guillotines, Carbolite oven, aqua blast and dot marking equipment
  • To work in the Heavy Fabrication and Light Assembly areas assembling a range of equipment from safety and survival, to RIB assemblies, boat platforms and other related equipment, using the technical drawings provided
  • To use specialist equipment for paint spraying, overhead cranes, rivet guns, propane or oxy acetylene equipment and other equipment generally used within a metals production area
  • To work in accordance with health and safety policies and procedures, including the use of PPE

 

Press Shop

  • Run various Power Presses from 6 ton (Fly press)up to 360 ton (coining press)
  • Set and run Pillar Drills
  • Set and run a Roto Finishing Machine
  • Fettle and polish components to attribute gauges using hand tools, linishing and polishing machines
  • Work to high Quality Standards

 

Light Assembly / Large Fabrication

  • Paint spraying, hand drilling and riveting
  • Setting and running of fly presses and spin rivet machines
  • Use of the swaging machine and pillar drills
  • Experienced in the heating of metal parts using propane or oxy acetylene equipment
  • Confident in using various hand torque wrenches and air (pneumatic)tools

Work in the large fabrication area will require operators to be physically able to:

  • Lift weights of 10kg regularly ensuring correct manual handling guidelines are observed
  • Use physical force when using hand drills sometimes for long periods
  • Work in enclosed spaces
  • Operators will also be required to operate air power rivet guns, air ratchets and be able to reach into tight spaces to fit components

 

Other Considerations:

  • Adhere to and work in accordance with safety rules and regulations when operating machinery and working within the various environments in the metals division
  • The strict use of Personal Protective equipment (PPE)at all times, including (as a minimum), appropriate steel toe capped footwear, suitable eye protection, suitable ear defenders
  • Paint spraying requires additional health and safety procedures

 

INTRINSIC SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Attention to detail
  • Communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
  • Level 2 NVQ in PEO (Performing Engineering Operations) or equivalent

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of working in a metals production environment, assembling and fabricating a wide range of metals products (typically in the aerospace or automotive industry)
  • Ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings and instructions
  • Ability to measure with a high degree of accuracy using Verniers, CMM machine and other relevant measuring tools
  • Ability to work safely and effectively with minimum supervision

PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • Good manual dexterity and ability to physically handle the tools described above for periods of time, in order to complete production tasks to the time specified

OVERVIEW OF ROLE

Reporting to the Finance Director, the role of the Senior Finance Manager is to take responsibility for all elements of finance, ensuring the smooth running of the Finance Department, and to provide key business support to the ADAS Business Management Team (BMT).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Key member of ADAS Business Management Team tasked with meeting the annual Plan
  • Responsible for coordination of monthly reporting of the business internally and to Corporate. This includes reviewing monthly accounts with rolling forecasts, detailed commentary and variance analysis on actual results to forecasts and Plan
  • Oversee the Finance Function with three direct reports, ensuring work load is balanced
  • Responsible for co-ordinating and collating Annual Operating Plan
  • Review and reporting of the overheads of the business unit with a view to driving down expenditure, identifying and driving productivity improvements
  • Working Capital Management and evaluating foreign exchange exposure
  • Provide relevant financial data for all ADAS contracts monthly and present analysis of key contracts to the rest of the ADAS Business Management Team and Senior Leadership Team
  • Provide significant support to ADAS Business Manager in preparation for Corporate (TransDigm) presentations (Quarterly reviews, Annual Plan and Mid-Year reviews)
  • Ensure general policies and procedures are in place, SOX compliant, and adhered to with controls completed and reviewed in a timely manner
  • Support Finance Director and finance team in preparation of consolidated Financial Statements and liaising with auditors
  • Bank Signatory
  • Review all ADAS Bids
  • Review all ADAS Capex projects
  • Responsible for Cycle Counting administration and Stock Accuracy (in conjunction with Operations)
  • Other ad-hoc tasks to support the Finance Director, ADAS Business Manager and the ADAS BMT

 

INTRINSIC SKILLS REQUIRED

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Professional Accountancy Qualification  CIMA / ICAEW / ACCA / ACA or equivalent with minimum 5 years post qualifying experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong computer skills to include advanced Excel
  • Previous manufacturing experience essential and knowledge of ERP preferential

OVERVIEW OF ROLE

Project Engineers develop and apply today’s technology, managing and maintaining the application of current and developing engineering practices. With their detailed knowledge and understanding of current engineering technologies, they possess the skills and know-how to make things happen and play a key role in the successful delivery of projects. They have a detailed understanding of their recognised field of expertise and exercise independent judgment and management in the delivery of the allocated tasks across the full project lifecycle.

The focus of this role is to design and develop new personnel parachute products and to support the existing range of personnel parachute products and their users.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

To deliver tasks allocated by Engineering Managers and Senior Engineers to the required time, cost, quality and scope:
Tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Innovative design of novel solutions
  • Verification, validation (including conduct of trials)
  • Preparation of design documentation
  • Changes to drawings, material and constructional specifications
  • Providing support for the completion of BIDS
  • To actively and positively contribute to the design and development of new products / services
  • To support other departments in the successful delivery of existing products / services.
  • To manage own workload and the expectations of line manager, peers, internal and external stakeholders
  • To comply with company policies and procedures
  • To operate with integrity and be professional at all times, recognising their obligations to meet regulatory requirements (particularly safety within design)
  • To proactively support continuous change programmes, identify and recommend process / operational improvements

 

INTRINSIC SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Have a detailed understanding of their recognised field of expertise and exercise independent judgement and management in the delivery of the allocated tasks across the full project lifecycle.
  • Produce high quality documentation in accordance with company processes and procedures. Suggesting continuous improvement where appropriate.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Engineering Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; or Work-based technical knowledge and understanding, assessed as equivalent to the Formal Qualification.
  • Qualified parachutist – instructor / tandem master
