Overview of Role

The Project Controller (PC) is responsible for working within all stages of project management. The primary role is to work closely with one or more project managers to ensure that all budgeting, scheduling and coordination processes run smoothly. The PC will monitor the progress of projects to ensure that they are working within the confines of set deadlines and budget limitations and generate progress reports to managers. The PC will make suggestions for improvements to project operations as needed in order to improve on time delivery, reduce cost or improve quality.

 

Project Controller Responsibilities:

  • Continually monitor and evaluate each step of a project to ensure it meets budgetary and deadline goals.
  • Report to project managers to discuss the progress of each project, resourcing needs, schedule changes, project scope adjustments and more.
  • The two main areas of focus are budgeting and scheduling. Assist in setting a project budget and be involved in assembling a project team and setting task schedules.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining reports addressing all aspects of project development and completion. Present the details of these reports during group or one-on-one meetings with senior managers.
  • Recognise areas within the project that need improvement in order to maintain efficiency and cost control and present their ideas to project managers.  Assume the responsibility of implementing and managing these changes in the project management cycle.
  • Support the preparation of customer bids and proposals.
  • Facilitate and minute progress meetings, maintain action logs, store and maintain project documentation.

 

Project Controller Requirements:

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational and written/oral communication skills
  • Able to regularly and reliably make deadlines and achieve delivery targets
  • Ability to work independently as needed
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of customers, suppliers, managers, subcontractors, consultants and otherprofessionals
  • Ability to evaluate step-by-step project management processes
  • Ability to oversee project team members (as required)
  • Creating and adjusting project budgets
  • Forecasting project goals and completion
  • Developing project scheduling, budgeting and progress reports
  • Ability to extract, analyse and present data from various electronic systems
  • An understanding of working within or alongside project teams
  • Understanding of dealing with UK MoD
  • GCSE English and Maths Grade C or above and/or equivalent suitable PMO qualification
  • 3+ years’ experience in a related defence/technology company or in a project environment
  • Computer Skills (including MS Office)
  • Valid Passport
  • UK Driving Licence
  • Hold or be able to hold SC clearance

Final Inspector Operative [Ref. AFPSU-21/01 ]
Responsible for the Before Issue Inspection (BII) / Project Controller of all Parachute Assemblies as directed by the Production Manager, in accordance with the MOD’s Air Publications. To carry out Before Issue Inspection Checks on all Parachute Assemblies in accordance with MOD Air Publications, Manuals and Company procedures.

Overview of Role

Responsible for the Before Issue Inspection (BII) / Final Inspection of all Parachute Assemblies as directed by the Production Manager, in accordance with the MOD’s Air Publications.

 

Project Controller Responsibilities:

  • To carry out Before Issue Inspection Checks on all Parachute Assemblies in accordance with MOD Air Publications,
    Manuals and Company procedures.
  • To carry the packaging of parachute assemblies into polythene bags, band & label in preparation for issue.
  • To read and understand MOD Air Publication Manuals.
  • To comply with the company quality policy.
  • To sit oral/written tests at the end of each training module.
  • Adherence to relevant Health & Safety requirements including PPE at all times.
  • To represent the Company in the support of various trial and detachment activities if required

 

Project Controller Requirements:

  • Ability to organise.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and communication skills.
  • Perseverance and motivation.
  • Good reading, written & oral skills.
  • Good level of manual dexterity.
  • To be able to follow drawings and assembly instructions.
  • Keep all working areas clean, tidy and organised.

 

Physical / safety considerations

  • Physically fit.
  • Capable of Lifting up to 15kgs as an individual and 30kgs with additional support.
  • Ability to spend all day standing.
  • The strict use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.

 

About IrvinGQ:

Salary: £10 per hour increasing to £10.55 after successful completion of a 6 month probation period.

Key Responsibilities

To deliver tasks allocated by Engineering Managers and Senior Engineers to the required time, cost, quality and scope:
Tasks include but are not limited to:

Innovative design of novel solutions
Verification, validation (including conduct of trials)
Preparation of design documentation
Changes to drawings, material and constructional specifications
Providing support for the completion of BIDS
To actively and positively contribute to the design and development of new products / services
To support other departments in the successful delivery of existing products /services.
To manage own workload and the expectations of line manager, peers, internal and external stakeholders
To comply with company policies and procedures
To operate with integrity and be professional at all times, recognising their obligations to meet regulatory requirements (particularly safety within design)
To proactively support continuous change programmes, identify and recommend process / operational improvements

 

Intrinsic Skills Required

Have a detailed understanding of their recognised field of expertise and exercise independent judgement and management in the delivery of the allocated tasks across the full project lifecycle.
Produce high quality documentation in accordance with company processes and procedures. Suggesting continuous improvement where appropriate. Required Qualifications

Engineering Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; or Work-based technical knowledge and understanding, assessed as equivalent to the Formal Qualification.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Applications
Full UK Driving Licence
