Deplaning Ropes – MK 2, 3 and 4
IrvinGQ deplaning ropes are in service on a wide range of helicopters including the Sea King, Chinook and Lynx across the Armed Forces worldwide.
The deplaning rope assembly is used to safely deplane personnel from in-flight helicopters, using either swarming or fast roping techniques.
Mk 2, Mk 3 and Mk 4 deplaning ropes are currently in service
Each mark of rope is available in:
- 40ft
- 50ft
- 60ft
- 90ft
- 120ft (MK 2 and Mk 3 ropes)
Deplaning Rope features
The Mk 2 rope is fitted with a ring and snap hook for connecting the rope directly to a helicopter attachment point.
The Mk 3 rope is fitted with a clevis which is used for connecting the rope to a Quick Release Mechanism (QRM), which in turn is connected to the helicopter attachment point.
The Mk 4 rope has a dual use top fitting with a clevis and a link. The clevis is used for connecting the rope to a QRM, including the embedded QRM fitted to the Chinook Mk 2 and Mk 2a, which in turn is connected to the helicopter attachment point.
The link is used to attach the rope to the embedded QRM in a Chinook Mk 3 helicopter.
